Point system: 4 extremely good, 3 good, 2 average, 1 bad, 0 very bad.
The points just go with what types the pokemon are, not what moves they (the starers) could or could
not have. It IS however based on what moves the gym pokemon know.

Well I found that rather shocking. Anyway, for not-gym purposes, not-Bulbasaur would be a
good choice. Team Rocket use poison types a lot, and the first few wild pokemon are usually
flying or poison types, which Bulbasaurs do not like. I use Bulbasaur all the time, so I guess
that means I'm cool.
There are virtually no fire type pokemon untill like badge 4, so yay Charmander. There are a number
of water and grass types before then.

Again, team rocket use poison, so not-Chickorita for those guys. Also, Chiko is weak to a lot of early wild pokemon (Hoothoot, Pidgey, Spearow, Zubat, Bellsprout, the bugs etc). Again, there's like no fire pokemon for AGES (except crystal, you can get Growlithe very early on).

Mudkip on Ruby would kick so much ass, because of team magma. Treeko on Sapphire would be good too, because team Aqua. And as usual, WHERE ARE THE DAMN FIRE TYPES, so yay for Torchic there.

That also came as a shock to me. Anyway, regardless that it has the lowest score, GET CHIMCHAR. There are only TWO fire types you can have before the E4 in this game - Chimchar and Ponyta. There are 57885789065896890457 bazillion water types in the game to choose from (Shellos, Gyarados, Buizel, Bibarel but who would, Psyduck, Mantyke, Marill, Wooper etc), and several grass types. Yeah. Team galaxy use bug types a lot too, so yeeeeeaaaaaah.
